Where do I start?

If you’re thinking about getting into kayaking with a goal of competing in races such as the Speight’s Coast to Coast, we are here to help. We are passionate about kayaking and would love you to benefit from our experiences.

Topsport Kayaking has been involved in kayak instruction for over 25 years. We have a rich history with multisport and the Speight’s Coast to Coast, teaching athletes such as Emily Miazga and playing a vital role in her 3 Longest Day victories. Len and Caleb have been guiding and instructing together for over 8 years and have developed a great relationship on the water. This allows them to provide you with a professional, effective and safe learning process.

Do I have to have my own gear?

No. Whether you’re looking to complete a grade two course or just want to give multisport kayaks a go, we will provide you with all the necessary gear. For our grade two courses we will supply all kayaking gear. This allows you to get started, without having to rush into investing in a kayak and all the gear.

Speights Coast to Coast. What’s involved?

The Waimakariri section of the Speight’s Coast to Coast is such a beautiful part of the South Island and an amazing experience to paddle. It is a rewarding challenge and is very achievable. Building the necessary skills takes time and commitment. With our experienced instructors that are committed to seeing you succeed paired with you putting in the time, there is no reason for you not to reach your goal on race day.
